I am single and it takes so long to get a full load together for the large washing machines in my apartment building’s laundry room that I can’t separate whites and colors. I wanted a smaller machine so I could use less water and electricity, and do smaller loads.

I have had this item in my tiny studio apartment kitchen for a year now. I do about 5 loads a month. It does a good job on laundry with a small amount of water and has all the features that large machines have, such as bleach and detergent dispensers, even a timer to start a delayed load. It has a soak cycle, a fast cycle, etc. and handles a regular laundry basket full of dry clothing or linens without crowding. The lint filters are easy to clean and the machine never malfunctions. The controls are easy to operate although I wish the default were for a “large” not “medium” size load.

The only problem I have had is that the drain hose only has one hose clamp, and the flange it attaches to is too short to attach another. This means, if the clamp happens to loosen up and let the hose loose, you will flood your downstairs neighbor’s home and a whole lot of expensive repairs will be needed. The landlord will be angry. Therefore I check that hose clamp often to make sure the hose is on there nice and tight. It needs tightening about once a month.

Also, when my cousin helped me install it, we were mystified that the standard installation requires two water connections, one each for hot and cold water, although it is supposed to be a portable unit, getting water from the (singular) kitchen sink faucet, and draining into the sink (don’t forget to remove the drain’s strainer). We found a quick-connect fitting that allows the cold water hose to snap onto the faucet (only six trips to hardware stores to get this right) and threw away the extraneous hot water hose; this makes setting up for a load quick and easy. Hard to imagine using this portable unit in a spot with a regular two-faucet hookup. Maybe the second hose, etc. could be offered as a bonus parts kit for that situation.

I also had problems with the casters. There are two casters one can install on the front legs. It would be easier to roll the thing up to the sink if the back legs had casters too, but I guess then the thing might try to run across the kitchen during a load? Wouldn’t having brakes on the casters resolve that? Something for the engineers to take a look at, along with the glue on all the stickers it is covered with, which don’t come off.

One nice thing is the top surface of the washer is pretty flat. I keep a big towel thrown over it and use it for drying dishes, etc. – it serves as useful counter space. A bonus.

All in all, a very nice thing to have in a small apartment, and, depending on how many quarters your laundromat requires, does not take that long to pay for itself, especially considering that it does not need much in the way of expensive laundry chemicals.

I purchased the Haier as a replacement for the GE compact washer that came installed in our rv. The Haier seems to have a smaller wash basket, but it’s much lighter in weight which is helpful in a rv. The washing machine itself is extremely quiet, cleans efficiently and has enough choices for wash loads for my purposes. I’m pleased with my purchase.

This compact washer is great – especially for a condo / apartment. I got it out of pure laziness..didn’t want to have to walk to the laundry mat when the snow hits the ground. Totally worth it! Now here’s the down side x 3:

1. some of the manual instructions can be slightly confusing to a
non-mechanic (probably a lost in translation problem since this is a Chinese product).

2. the rear casters are impossible to remove (to put the rear wheels on). I had to hire a plumber to do this.

3. The hoses are definitely too short…but a trip to the hardware store (for extended hoses and some kind of plumbing adapter) worked out that problem. You may also want to pick up a Y-adapter.

But it washes great. Check your apartment amperage! You may not be able to use the microwave or A/C at the same time.

I am so glad I decided to purchase this washer! It holds a lot more than I thought it would – I can do a whole weeks worth of my laundry in one load. Anyone that says it is hard to put together is, well, an idiot. I had this out of the box and doing my first load of laundry in about 20 mins.
We are a family of four & with a new baby & a three year old, well going to the laundry mat was just too big of a pain, not to mention costly. This washer solved both of those problems.
When it arrived, it was dented and I did find that dissapointing, but as all of the other reviews have said, it is simply cosmetic & doesn’t affect the performance at all. It is a flaw that I have easily seen past. That’s probably why the shiping method hasn’t been changed, no one complains about the dents once they’ve used the washer!!!!
All in all, A great washing machine & it arrived when it was supposed to. One other thing – I wish they had made the water hook-ups out of either metal or a harder plastic – I’m worried about it breaking off the hose.

We’ve been using it for a few weeks now and couldn’t be happier. To me, the load size is the almost the same as a standard home washer. It is pretty quiet and even with the wheels on it, it doesn’t shake & rattle. I like the TWO lint traps because between them, there is no paper mush left in the washer drum if someones pockets weren’t emptied before being washed. This is perfect for people in apartments or if you maybe have a business where you need to keep things washed (dish towels, aprons, etc.)

I bought this haier portable washer from Amazon in 2003, work perfectly, very quiet, never had any problem, the manual is not very helpful, but you can easily figure it out yourself if your are not that stupid. anyway, a wonderful choice for living in apartment, save a lot money, really, and most importantly, don’t have to share washer with some dirty people.

I have this washer in a small apt. It is very quiet and holds full loads. It stows away conveniently. I am very pleased with the size & performance. Set us was very simple as well.

I have 4 small children (living in an apartment) and going to the laundry facility to the laundry was impossible. I got the machine and the matching dryer and they both work great! It has definately made my life easier and the clothes are so much cleaner than before. I would highly recommend this product.

THIS WASHER HOLDS MORE THAN I THOUGHT IT WOULD. ITS QUIET, WASHES EVERYTHING CLEAN, SPINS OUT 99% OF THE WATER. THE OTHER REVIEWER IS RIGHT ABOUT REMOVING THE BACK LEGS-ITS VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE SO YOU CAN LEVEL THEM. HOWEVER I BOUGHT FURNITURE SLIDERS AND GAVE UP TRYING TO REMOVE THE LEGS-JUST ATTACHED THE SLIDERS AND SOLVED THE PROBLEM. I HIGHLY RECOMMENT THIS WASHER; FOR THE MONEY YOU CANT BEAT IT.

The first washer arrived damaged. I called Target and they were so helpful. UPS picked up the damaged unit with no problem. The new one arrived a couple of days later and thankfully was in perfect condition. We easily put it together. As others have mentioned the directions were kind of vague. But other than that assembly went quickly. It is now up and running. I did two loads of wash in my own apartment last night! It is like a miracle!

I was considering the smaller 8lb. model but I am so glad that I upgraded. The 11lb. model has an agitator, wheels that come with it and are optional to attach, a bleach dispenser and a fabric softener dispenser. It is also super quiet.

I would recommend this to anyone who hates the laundromat and is sick of dragging their clothes out of the house to wash them. I just wish I had know these portable washes existed sooner, I would have bought one a long time ago. It is going to change my life!

If you are thinking about buying one – just do it, you will not regret it.
